Okay, I know: it's been awhile since my last blog entry. In my defense, I've been painting (that thing that artists are supposed to do), fulfilling some commissions, gifts, and pieces for the Framery Fine Art Gallery Christmas Show. Which is here NOW and runs thru December 31st, for everyone who can't make it over there before Christmas, and might want to give themselves a gift before the end of the year.

In their own words, here's the haps on the Show:

The "ACW" (Artist Community of Whittier) is having an event from December 10 to December 31, 2011, entitled "The Art of Giving". We started off the festivities with a "Progressive" (art tour) last Saturday Dec. 10th, that began at The Framery Fine Art Gallery, made way to the Whittier Art Gallery, then meandered over to Sara's Art Studio, then Casita del Pueblo, and finished at Doppio Bocio.

This was also a Toy & Food Drive benefitting the "Interfaith Food Center", and was a big success. Regarding the food drive, we will continue to accept toys and food through next week.

Currently we have 10 artists exhibiting at The Framery Fine Art Gallery through the end of the month, with most prices in the $100 to $250 range. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Interfaith Food Center.

Our goal is to encourage the community to buy gifts that enrich someone's life, and will be admired and enjoyed for being unique and truly "one of a kind".

So that's the scoop. As the ACW (of which I'm a member--I'm an ex-Whittierite, after all) states in its motto: "Enrich your life, buy Art", let's start giving gifts (even to ourselves) that mean a little more than the mass-produced electronics that will be obsolete before spring. Getting something that beautifies your home (office, etc) and that can literally last a lifetime (not to mention potentially increasing in value) is the best way to start.
