Adobe Skyline

Another thing I am fascinated by is skylines, especially of historic buildings against hot desert skies. Make that skyline a two-story adobe and I'm grabbing my brushes or camera without a second thought. This is a small study that became a very detailed small oil painting. I broke my cardinal rule of never using tiny brushes just because this image begged for the fine detail. Again, one of those times I had to listen to what the painting wanted, and was glad I did. And yippee, it fits my Desert Waters show because a traditional building material is typically found in the desert by--again--just adding water.

This is one of 24 images that will be available in my solo show, "Desert Waters," at the Framery Fine Art Gallery, Whittier, CA. Event runs July 7 thru 28th; artist reception is July 7th, 4-7 p.m.
