Desert Waters Show: Off to a Fast Start

Rooted Against Any Storm
I am happy to report how well the reception for my solo-artist show, Desert Waters, went. Attendance was about the same as last year but was almost all new faces. While more people are (usually) better, the holiday conflicted with many people's desire to come. Mea culpa--or rather, my bad. It was this month or not do a show this year (September had a bigger scheduling problem at the gallery), so I decided to chance it. We had live music in the form of two very talented musicians, one a violinist and the other a harpist. You can hear a sample of their playing and also see snippets of my artwork along with a semi-lame interview with me. (Sorry, I was REALLY tired and this was at the end of the reception, and done in one take, obviously.) Click on this link to go to the video on Youtube. If it doesn't work, then go to YouTube and search for "SJW Grogan Desert Waters" (without the quotes), and it will pop up. (Many, many thanks to fellow ACW artist Jose Rodriguez of SketchZone.com for shooting, editing and loading the clip onto YouTube. Jose, you rock!)
The even better news (than a successful opening) is that for everyone who couldn't make it for the reception, we've scheduled what you might consider a "closing event" ala Olympics (but without the dancers and over-the-top extravaganza). I will be doing an oil painting demonstration on Saturday, July 28th, from noon until 4 so that everyone can come and see exactly how an artist works. The rest of the exhibit will be open from 2-5. Around 4:30-ish, we will do an opportunity drawing for one lucky attendee to buy the demo painting at a 50% savings from my normal prices. So come see my show as it wraps up, and also see me literally in action.
And for all you who can't make it July 28th for the closing event, the exhibit and sale is open now until July 28th, Tuesdays through Saturdays (10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday-Friday; 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday), at the Framery Fine Art Gallery, 13105 Whittier Blvd., Whittier, CA 90603. 562-693-5714. Drop on in and see how Desert Waters have come to life.
